Bad first-round matchup for Wolverines

08:18 AM ET 03.20 | John Beilein has given his young team as much time off as he can, but the Michigan head coach knows things will pick up in a hurry. Michigan hasn't played too many teams like South Dakota State, which Beilein said could pull all five of its players to the perimeter, including 6-foot-8 forward Jordan Dykstra, who shoots 43% from three-point range. That will put pressure on big men Jordan Morgan, Mitch McGary and Jon Horford to step away from the basket on defense. "That's going to be a huge challenge -- that's a huge challenge when everybody can shoot in a lineup," Beilein said. ... "They're going to get open shots sometimes -- it's very hard to stop that."

I would be worried about my job if my team loses to SD State, and this time of the year John there is no such thing anymore as a young team.

I am not sure if even Michigan fans can be as infatuated as you are.

You comment on everything Michigan. Just admit it, being a puke fan has to suck. You have BB and thats it. Well, maybe lacrosse but who gives a crap about lacrosse.

Ya know, I hate Michigan. That's not a secret to anyone who has been hanging around here, but with that said I don't think Beilein's job should be in jeopardy based on this. A coach should be given the opportunity to build a program withough having to look over his shoulder all the time. There was plenty of losing at Duke when K first arrived. Imagine if todays standards had been imposed on him. Give Beilein a break. Michigan's b-ball program is finally respectable again because of him. I think he's earned the right to have this thing play out as it will without threat of losing his job if it doesn't turn out the way Michigan would like.

It's great being a Duke basketball fan. We win national titles, not almost win them like your bought and paid for Fab 5. Enjoy your season. Its been a long time since your team has been relevant.

Michigan has a "tough road to ****" so-to-speak.

Beilein has done a great job bringing Michigan B-ball back to relevence. Any educated fan should know his job should not be in jeopardy.

That being said, a loss to South Dakota State would be an embarrassment to Michigan and the B1G.

The work was **** as in garden implement. Nice editing.

Don't forget Muddy Waters, he was another bad coach at MSU.

With all the bragging the B1G has done about their conference being by far the country's best basketball conference, having one of their top 4 seeds in the tourney go out to a 13 seed would be an embarrassment.

John L Smith has got to be the lousiest football coach in Div I-A in a long time. Arky fans may have a few more comments given their recent history.

While I'm not normally a big fan of TSUN, I am a fan of the B1G. I'd really like to see all six representatives of the conference make it to the Sweet Sixteen...Elite Eight would make me ecstatic.

I am with you GTH. Hope B1G has 5-6 in Sweet 16 and at least 3 in Elite 8. 2 in Final Four would be great as well.

Typical B1G whining. Playing any team other than Mrs. Smithers' School for Girls is a bad first-round matchup.
