08:22 AM ET 03.20 | The Rangers are at least considering the call-up of rookie forward Chris Kreider, who has scored six goals in eight games since being demoted on Feb. 28. "We're dying to get a guy that's 6 foot 3 that can skate like hell into our lineup," Tortorella said. "But we're not going to do it at the expense of him in hurting him as far as developing him." In all, Kreider has 11 goals and eight assists in 42 games for the Whale and one goal and one assist in 11 games for the Rangers. "We're getting good reports," Tortorella said. "We don't want to keep on knee-jerking him back and forth. We want to make sure if we do [call him up], we feel he's ready to play."

Phenom? Seriously?

I'm with you DL...
the kid had a good playoff, but I honestly don't see what the big deal is. Yeah, "We're dying to get a guy that's 6 foot 3 that can skate like hell into our lineup," every team does....but is this the guy?
I'm with the coach on this one....

Agreed. Tort's comments make sense to me. (Did I just say that?)

Torts, of course you're going to hurt him...you think blocking that many shots is fun?

I know, I know...he isn't quite Kadri, Schenn, Monster, etc...but not all prospects can be of such high quality.

11 goals and 8 assists in 42 games in the AHL doesn't sound like a phenom to me. Sounds pretty pedestrian.

The chants of "We're Number Eight" are deafening.

The NHL has its version of Al Davis' "Just win, Baby" and it involves the playoffs..."Just get in, Baby"!

playoffs to day:

Pitt-NYR
MTL-TOR
Jets-Hurricanes (wow, what a gift that would be for those 2 teams)
Boston-Ottawa

Chicago-San Jose
Anaheim-Detroit
Minny-Vancouver
LA-St Louis

Overall, some nice match-ups, with the only real dud being Carolina vs Winnipeg...but wow, what a dud!

forgive me, and I know a certain poster with running stats will probably rip me...but I'm not sold on Boston yet...
Haven't seen enough of The West, but winning streak be damned...Chicago either...

Torts - he would be a phenom...but we want to be fair to the rest of the league

Chicago is going to look back on their streak with a bit regret. Better to have a streak like that at the end of the season.

I think there's an ointment for that.

Hope some of those matchups change. Detroit seems to fare badly when going out west. Maybe if they left the suntan lotion at home.
