49ers sign Phil Dawson

12:21 PM ET 03.20 | Phil Dawson is a member of the San Francisco 49ers, as the team signed the long-time Cleveland Browns kicker to a one-year deal on Tuesday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Dawson, 38, was an undrafted free agent in 1998 and bounced from the Oakland Raiders to the New England Patriots. In 1999 he earned a spot on the Browns roster and held that spot for the next 14 seasons, becoming the all-time leader in franchise history in field goals made and second all-time in points scored, behind Lou Groza. In 2012, Dawson became a Pro Bowler for the first time after he knocked through 29-of-31 field goal attempts including a perfect 7-of-7 attempts from 50 yards or longer. His 93.5 field goal percentage was tops in the NFL among kickers that attempted at least 20 field goals.
