12:25 PM ET 03.20 | Wes Welker's contract breakdown in New England caused quite the commotion around the NFL community. Despite the ongoing war of words between the two sides, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick isn't adding any further comment to the situation. Kraft says Welker was the team's first choice, noting his attempt to re-sign the 31-year-old wide receiver before bringing in Danny Amendola. He blames Welker's representatives for misreading the market and asking for too high of a price. When asked about the Welker situation, Belichick simply deferred to Kraft's comments on the matter. "He was tough, competitive and very productive. I think what Robert [Kraft] said yesterday covered it pretty thoroughly. I don't have anything to add to that," Belichick said.

He's not on the team anymore. Is this really that surprising from Belichick?

That seems like a comment to me.

At least there's one man amongst these jaded girls.

Since he's speaking in the past tense, I'm surprised the headline wasn't"

"Belichick no longer thinks Welker is tough, competitive or very productive"...

He just wants to move on.

Why would anyone expect anything different from BB?
He's consistent, tell them as little as possible.

God forbid the media allows that sort of thing.

Bill Belichick refuses to comment on anything.

It's not like commenting to any extent on this matter could possibly lead to anything positive for the Pats or Welker. So long, Wes. It was fun while it lasted.

March 20, 2013  03:18 PM ET

Wouldn't this only be news worthy if he did comment??????

Like the song says, my heart will go on.

Exactly, BB never comments on anything. On the other hand, Welker seemed to seize every opportunity to comment on anything. That could not have sat well with the boss.

In four and a half months we won't hear a word about Welker. Belichick is already there, he's just waiting for media to get there.
