Redskins DE Adam Carriker suffers setback

01:50 PM ET 03.20 | Adam Carriker is working his way back from a torn quadriceps tendon, but the recovery process isn't going smoothly for the Washington Redskins defensive end. On Tuesday, head coach Mike Shanahan said that he is hopeful that Carriker will be ready for the 2013 season, but that Carriker had suffered a setback in his rehab. Carriker appeared in just two games last season before being forced to the sidelines. He was coming off a career-high 5.5 sacks in 2012 but had time to record just one tackle in 2013. He recently agreed to restructure the four-year contract he signed in 2012 and may have taken pay cut in the process. Assuming he heals up in time, Carriker is expected to be a regular part of the Redskins' rotation at defensive end, along with Stephen Bowen, Jarvis Jenkins and Kedric Golston. Carriker will be 29 years old by the time the 2013 season starts and should have enough wear left in his legs to be a solid contributor. Getting healthy is likely his No. 1 priority at the moment, however.
