01:16 PM ET 03.20 | Mike Shanahan's contract is set to expire after the 2014 season. According to Mark Maske of The Washington Post, the Redskins head coach said he hasn't discussed contract extensions with the team at this point. Shanahan signed a five-year deal with Washington in 2010. He was fired from Denver in 2008 after failing to make the playoffs for three consecutive seasons. The first two years of his tenure in the nation's capital did not go well. Donovan McNabb, Rex Grossman and John Beck all unsuccessfully held stints at starting quarterback, but it was the drafting of Robert Griffin III that turned the franchise around last season. With RG3 under center, he and Shanahan led the Redskins to a 10-6 record and a division title. They ultimately lost to the Seahawks in the first round of playoffs, but it was a promising start to a new era. Alfred Morris also emerged as a featured back during his rookie season, leaving the Redskins with two vital pieces on offense going forward into 2013.

What do they mean, "he AND Shannahan turned it around"? To me it looked like it was all RGIII that did the turning around.

Media created story for the sole purpose of boring us to tears.
