07:56 AM ET 03.21 | New York Rangers president and general manager Glen Sather will miss a few days of his duties as he is set to undergo surgery for prostate cancer later on Thursday. Sather is expected to return to the team after his recovery, while assistant general manager Jeff Gorton is expected to fill in during his absence. Gorton represented the team at the owners meetings on Wednesday. The 69-year-old Sather did not comment on the situation. Sather was inducted into the hockey Hall of Fame in 1997 and his 497 wins rank him 16th on the NHL's all-time coaching list.

Hope he gets better, but I hope even more that he left specific instructions for the assistant GM to fire Torts in a couple days.

Seriously, at this point how on earth is he still employed?

They cant generate offense. I mean I am beating a dead horse now, but look at Brian Boyle. He is one of these grinder types but he cant out work a guy on the wall and get the puck to someone and create a chance.

How many games is it now where the cant score more than 1 goal for Hank. Floridas second goal last night was unbelievable. Some guys have there heads up there arses.

Hope that it works out for Glen. I also agree with you guys about Torts. The team has given up on him, time to move on.

I hope everything comes out alright.

They actually decided to put some pucks on net for a change last night...over 40 shots worth.

Henrik had no chance on the Campbell goal since McDonagh was attempting to do what Torts loves...block a shot. He was fortunate he never took that one in the face the way he was down on his knees screening his gumper.

torts reminds me of the worst coach I ever had. His only 2 answers to any situation we 'force' or 'skate'...

as in, during the game he would just yell 'force', 'force' all over again as if that was the magic word...

...and then after the inevitable 7-1 skunking, for the rest of the week his answer was to just make us skate the lines all practice.

Perhaps the Rangers can hire him next?

I went through that and now I'm cancer free. Hoping for the best for Glen

Yup, I believe a season high. I'm still holding out hope we get it going before it is too late.

they could take 100....Sometimes the Rangers look like theior job is to HIT the goalie, not get it by him.

Wow. Good to hear.

Hope for the best then for you PA Dave and Sather.

Maybe it will be like one of those old mob movies; where they whack the guy when the boss goes out of town.

Thanks... It's no picnic, but the alternative is worse

Agreed. He might need a pump to, you know, inflate his .... tires though.

"Sather was inducted into the hockey Hall of Fame in 1997"

Funny how he's never gotten any recognition from his peers when he was kicking their assets year in and year out all through the '80s.
