08:01 AM ET 03.21 | Musical chairs? There are four veteran free agent defensive ends jockeying for pretty much the same jobs as the visits by Dwight Freeney and John Abraham to the New England Patriots on the same day last week proved. Now, those two are headed to meet with the Denver Broncos at almost the same time. Freeney is scheduled to convene with the Broncos Wednesday night, while Abraham will meet with the team Thursday. ... The Broncos are bringing in these veteran options because defensive end Elvis Dumervil has yet to re-sign with them. ... Abraham received an offer from the Patriots during his visit, according to a person briefed on those talks. ... Former New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora also remains unemployed but is getting nibbles from Abraham's former team, the Atlanta Falcons.

This year's free agency has all the feel of a yard sale. GMs picking over the available players like old furniture or broken power tools sitting on a table in someone's driveway.

It really is. It's amazing how the landscape has changed in the last couple of years, with the owners seeming to have all the leverage now.

Yet some teams lack that one dimension.
Pats could realy use it. Help out their secondary a bit with some QB pressure.

Free agency always has a few waves to it...
The initial "over priced" guys get done by needy teams.
Then, the smarter moves are made for vets.
Then, after the draft, more vets get signed.
It is the same every single year.

I'll be glad when all these "contract" stories subside and they actually start smacking helmets. Oh wait you can't do that anymore.
