Farrell unsettled on his lineup

This is going to be a long season in Boston and New York, hopefully there's no Heat Wave or Blackouts!!!

If Farrell was expecting to set his lineup around Ortiz he isn't any better than Valentine. Ortiz is done...DONE

An injured Ortiz will flounder. If he gets his heel/tendon problems resolved, he still has plenty of mileage left on his odometer.

The reason not to worry is the unexpected, absolutely torrid spring bat of Bradley. Throw him in the mix, shirt the outfield around, put Gomes as DH, and you have a lineup that will leave Papi happily rehabbing until he's 100%. Good teams win not by the performance of their stars alone, but by the depth that allows their stars to remain healthy and/or rehabilitate from injury.

This may not be a championship team, but it will be a fun one to watch.

Has anyone signed Thome yet?

The Sox have some batters coming out, such as Bradley, Napoli and others. If Will starts hitting like last year, they will have another effective, potentially potent, offense no matter what. Salty has been doing well hitting too. No mention of Ellsbury.... keeping a low profile on Ells it seems during spring training, perhaps, getting ready for a trade....

I can't believe that the Globe is suggesting that Nava is the answer to anything. He's a career scrub.

Among Farrell's problems - the fact that acquisitions Overbay, Drew and Victorino have looked like crap - when they are healthy enough to play.

Based on his Spring performance teams are not lining up to trade for Ellsbury. More and more it looks like the Red Sox may have dodged a huge bullet when they didn't sign him to an expensive extension after the 2011 season. At the moment the only parties that believe Ellsbury is worth something are Scott Boras and the Red Sox front office.

As a Sox fan love the optimism. As an objective observer you're nuts! This team will be luck to be mediocre.

Unsettling is a good way to describe Farrell!
