08:15 AM ET 03.21 | The Zellers are used to putting up big numbers in the classroom (the lowest high school GPA among Luke, Tyler and Cody was a 3.999). [Cody] stands to make millions in the NBA, perhaps as soon as this summer. For now, though, Zeller keeps the "student" in student-athlete as a business major with a 3.44 grade-point average. ... When Zeller can finish his management degree has been a subject of speculation because it might affect his decision to enter the NBA. One report said he could earn a degree by the end of the upcoming summer session. Others think it may be in January 2014 after the first semester of his junior year. ... Zeller declined to discuss when he plans to graduate.

It's a crying shame stories like this are the exception rather than the norm. You go, Cody! And Go Hoosiers! Go B1G!

What are the odds of a story like this coming out of an SEC school ?

Amen, brother. They're coming in hot so at least we have that. Playing their best basketball right now and unlike past years, relatively under the radar. You win the toughest basketball conference in the country though and folks are going to pay attention to you. Go Bucks!

I think it's great that getting a degree is of importance to him, since he may need something to fall back on after his playing career is over.

They have schools in the SEC?

How refreshing to hear stories like this instead of the "student athletes" in the SEC.

also, right on. we need to get away from treating college athletics as "farm clubs" for the pro's. you do that and you end up with alabama. don't care how many mnc they win, they've tarnished "college" athletics.

About the same odds as it coming from the B1G. Players who put their education on par with (or ahead of their basketball play) are rare in any conference. The odds of a story like this coming from the SEC or B1G are slim.

You could argue that it is actually MORE likely to come from the SEC as there are more SEC teams.

disagree. players who put their education on par with or ahead of their sport are the rule, not the exception as so few will ever make it to the pro's and realize that. and the fact is, this story did come from the b1g, not the sec.

There's no particular reason he can't go pro AND get his degree. It would be incredibly stupid to miss out on a decent contract in order to do it in the expected order.
