Three-team trade near ... for AHL affiliates

08:17 AM ET 03.21 | An affiliate post in Abbotsford may be on the verge of becoming more interesting to Canucks fans. [If] the Team 1040's Tom Mayenknecht is correct, it won't be a Flames affiliate for much longer. As has been rumoured for ages, the Canucks are in the process of working out a move that would allow them to set up shop in the Lower Mainland's city in the country. ... [According to Mayenknecht] the Flames would move the Heat to Utica, leaving Abbotsford for the Canucks, who would then finalize a purchase for the Peoria Rivermen and quickly transform them into the Abbotsford Fraser Rivermen (or, you know, a better name). Meanwhile, the St. Louis Blues would align themselves with the independent Chicago Wolves.

this is about as entertaining as the story of tom selleck jumping on the ice just to get ko'd in a very unimpressive fight.

Slow news day?

Either way, like POTF says..... WGAF?

March 21, 2013  09:14 AM ET

Aww c'mon, there's no need to sling mud at the Weekly World News but pairing it in the same paragraph as the Globe and mail... I like me some "That there Space critter done stole my cow" stories!

the globe should just give up on having a sports section...or, if they insist on keping it then they should cover the sports that they think people actually want to read about, like fencing, equine sports and competitive ballroom dancing.

That paper is so far out of touch with the reality of pro sports, it's not even funny. The qualification to get a job writing in their sports section is to be an elitist prick with no actual knowledge or passion for sports.

Oh! Great! We're getting our hockey wisdom from the 'Globe and Mail' and the 'Vancouver Sun' today! How can we possibly go wrong?

March 21, 2013  09:53 AM ET

I've come across it, the most uninteresting FN article, ever.

March 21, 2013  10:07 AM ET

Tune in next week where will begin asking all over again: Will Forsberg return?

I don't read them very often (only on-line as a result of a thread here usually) so it wouldn't be fair for me to act like I know all about them. I accept your description though. You ought to to write for somebody. You DO have a passion for sports and are not an elitist!

Ah yes the fool who brought MLL to Vancouver where about a third of the players in the league come from and couldn't draw flies who'd pay those prices when they can watch the same players for a 1/3 of the price playing all over the lower mainland
