Friends clash in Oklahoma-San Diego State

08:14 AM ET 03.22 | Friday won't be a whole lot of fun for Oklahoma's Lon Kruger or San Diego State's Steve Fisher. [The pair] consider themselves good friends, so both men said it would difficult to coach against each other. ... "I'm happy he's in the tournament," Fisher said. "I wish we weren't playing one another in the first round." Their relationship dates to when both were coaching in the Big Ten, with Kruger at Illinois and Fisher at Michigan. They traveled to various functions together, Fisher said, and their wives became close. They continued to build their friendship as coaches in the Mountain West Conference when Kruger was hired at Nevada-Las Vegas in 2004. Fisher has been at San Diego State since 1999.
