Stars haunted by Richards' bolting?

08:21 AM ET 03.22 | GM Joe Nieuwendyk, whose Stars have only once been more than three games away from .500, finds himself in a precarious position -- yet again. On one hand, his team is not out of the race and getting into the playoffs would be a big deal for the organization. However, Nieuwendyk also has to determine if it's worth hanging on to players like Brenden Morrow, Jaromir Jagr and Derek Roy the way he did Brad Richards a few years ago. Richards stayed in Dallas because the Stars thought they could get into the playoffs. They didn't make it and Richards left, leaving Dallas with nothing in return. Nieuwendyk likely would not want to allow the same thing to happen.

Never hold on! Ever! Unless you're a Cup contender, trade his overrated ass!

If you can resign him to a good deal keep him otherwise listen to DL

Good point and the Stars have to be honest with themselves. Even if they make the playoffs they are going very far. Sell!

Hanging on to players isn't Nieuwendyk's only precarious situation.

I'm starting to think there need to be changes... which leads me to wonder how Gaglardi views this team.

Connolly and Komisarek are both taking 9.25 million of your cap space playing in the minors..ouch...imagine what TO wouldve been able to accomplish if they had the cap space.......
