01:56 PM ET 03.22 | The Saints are thought to remain high on former Eagles and Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha as well. Yet the process remains in a bit of a holding pattern as the former All-Pro defender continues to weigh his options after visiting New Orleans and San Francisco. Payton and General Manager Mickey Loomis both said during the owners meetings that the decision remains Asomugha???s to make. So the door seems open until Asomugha makes a choice. The Saints also appear to be in the running for Chargers free agent defensive tackle Vaughn Martin, according to CBSSports.com. Martin (6-4, 297) compiled 19 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble last season with the Chargers.

I think he is waiting to see if the 49ers can restructure some contracts and sign Asomugha. The only thing waiting for him in N.O. is Rob Ryan. Ryan needs Asomugha. I think Asomugha would like to play on a decent defense in SF rather than one of the worst defenses in N.O.. I said it before, don't expect Asomugha to pick a team till one or two weeks into April.

I think that's why Philly let him go; he was getting "lit up" too often.

I agree with you Mr. Football. If you are going to play a zone defense Asomugha is your boy, but if you are a man to man team like the Eagles are, he became a liability with the lost of foot speed and was release.

You might be the only person in the world who believes that.
Asomugha's only good playing days were spent as a pure man-to-man cover corner in Oakland. When Philadelphia tried to make him play zone defense in 2011 he looked completely lost and was exposed often. He certainly can't play zone... and if he's lost the foot speed to play man-to-man then it's time for him to retire.

There are three of us that believe this me, Mr. Football, and the Eagles Mr. Protest. I hope your boy will sign with the Saints and then you will see he cannot play man to man defense anymore. If he is still that good as you say, why was he cut lose.
