09:32 AM ET 03.23 | Almost immediately after the conclusion of the season, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick reported to CES Performance in Atlanta to begin his offseason workout regimen. There, he knew he could blend in without getting tugged in a hundred different directions due to his new celebrity status in the Bay Area or his hometown of Turlock. While any athlete hits the weight room with the goal of becoming bigger, faster, stronger, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said he has spoken with Kaepernick about becoming too big and too strong. (There's no such thing, obviously, as too fast.) At the recently completed NFL owners meetings, I asked Harbaugh if there was a fear that Kaepernick, who is seemingly already plenty strong in the upper body, could spend too much time in the weight room for his own good. "If you're just talking about weightlifting and upper-body strength, yes, I think there is that fear," Harbaugh said. "It's something we've talked about. 'I don't want you getting too jacked-up, Colin.' I want some speed, quickness, not just (flexing his chest muscles)."

We can re-build him. He can be bigger, stronger, faster.

Dear Jim: Just because you have a Corvette does not mean you have to drive it 200mph just to get a quart of milk 1 mile away. Meaning just because Kaepernick is muscular does not mean he has to throw the ball hard. Kaepernick was probably working on the definition of his arms so that they look more impressive when he is Kaepernick-ing. He had some of his WR's with him to work on throwing accuracy and touch, and he was mainly working on his foot speed and lower body strength. My guess is that when he reports to camp he will weigh in around 235 pounds. He should be thankful that he doesn't have the opposite, someone like Jamarcus Russell flexing his man boobs.

+1

Only think missing is adding some nice touches to his throws. Elway and Favre threw the same way and eventually started doing so and the rest is history.
