MLB quietly upgrades test containers after Ryan Braun case

09:04 AM ET 03.24 | As Major League Baseball continues to investigate Ryan Braun and all other players linked to the Biogenesis clinic, it has already made several changes in its drug program, including one alteration specifically related to the Milwaukee star's previous PED controversy. According to two major league sources, MLB quietly switched from plastic to glass containers for urine samples in 2012, a direct result of Braun's victory on grounds that the collection process was flawed. Before the Braun case, players gave the urine sample in a triple-sealed plastic container. Now, the collectors use glass bottles, made by the same manufacturer, but considered even more secure. The bottles have a locking mechanism on the top, as opposed to tamper-proof stickers on the plastic version. The only way to open the glass bottles is to smash the top with a hammer, which the lab does in what a person familiar with the process described as a "controlled manner." Last spring, Braun successfully challenged a 50-game suspension on chain-of-custody issues related to his urine sample. The slugger's defense centered around his claim that the test administered to him in the Brewers' clubhouse on Saturday, Oct. 1 was compromised once it left the premises, including that after the urine sample was collected by representatives of Comprehensive Drug Testing, Inc. (CDT), it sat in the home of one of the collectors for two days before being shipped by FedEx to the World Anti-Doping Laboratory in Montreal for analysis. As the Daily News reported at the time, Braun's failed test featured "insanely high" testosterone levels.

Baloney - it was nullified because of the AMOUNT OF TIME the container was held at the lab was NOT within contract parameters - thus - breach of contract. While he SPOKE about the possibility of tampering - the filing by the lawyers did NOT discuss anything but the time line......

If someone has any proof of the actual filing - please bring it forward. And don't regurgitate what his lawyers said about it was delayed and thus tampering was "possible". The filing was for the samples NOT being shipped on time.

Buraum is a cheating SOB and I have no use for a scumbag like him.I have more use for a pile of dogpoop than someone that has to use drugs to get ahead.I hope that he gets his upcomeing and never be able to play baseball again.
