Damon Stoudamire is 34 years old, an age that puts him closer to being an NBA senior citizen than a senior in high school. One day last week, however, he experienced a full-fledged teenage flashback. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, not exactly recreating a recruiting trek from his days at Pomona-Pitzer College, flew halfway across the country and back Wednesday, from Seattle to Memphis to Phoenix. All to try to convince Stoudamire, the veteran point guard whose contract the Grizzlies had just bought out, to come play for him. "I felt like I was in college again, getting recruited," Stoudamire said.

you mean a coach actually went to the player and said come play for me instead of some rep from the team or a phone call. no wonder the spurs are a class orginazation, the do it right.

this bloke could only do well at a team like the spurs he made the smart choice.

the spurs need another key piece so they should be looking to package up a couple of expiring contracts for real talent.

r.horry 3.6 million (exp)
f.elson 3.0 million (exp)
b.barry 5.5 million (exp)

teams are desperate for expiring contracts so this is a big chance to land a damn good player to add to the big 3.

I know he's a nutjob but if Artest is really available and the contracts matchup, I think the Spurs should pursue him as well. He's been well behaved and, like Loss going to the Patriots, I think Artest would be influenced by the Spurs and could thrive in this organization.

These guys sure have a short memory. This guy has about as much on the ball as any 10 year old. Hmm, lets see if we can get on board an airplane with some pot! I know, aluminum foil will get through security. This guy has proven nothing in this league, other than he's short a couple of "bricks".
