04:19 PM ET 03.24 | MLB.com's Orioles beat reporter Brittany Ghiroli is reporting that the Phillies have made a minor trade with the Baltimore Orioles. The Phillies first acquired 25-year-old outfielder Ronnie Welty, who has displayed a solid glove in the minors and is a career .284 hitter. The highest Welty reached was the Double-A level late last season. Welty figures to provide depth at Double-A Reading and potentially even Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season. The Phillies ship away RHP, Julio Rodriguez, who has tremendous stuff, but struggled with his command mightily at Double-A Reading in 2012, so much that he was taken out of the starting rotation late in the season. However, the 22-year-old Rodriguez did pitch in last year MLB Futures Game, and if he ever learns how to consistently throw strikes, could project as a solid late inning reliever at the MLB level.
