Gaborik demoted for a rookie

08:25 AM ET 03.25 | At this point in the season, the Rangers are in need of two points, but John Tortorella will settle for one -- as he did Sunday. The most glaring move Tortorella made in trying to get that much-needed second point was move rookie Chris Kreider up to the top line late in the second period. Skating with Brad Richards and Rick Nash, the line played well put couldn't convert when they needed to. It also meant that Marian Gaborik was demoted, not as humbling as his previous benchings, but skating alongside Brian Boyle and Taylor Pyatt is not a place of prestige for the team's leading scorer from last season. "I thought [Kreider] was skating well," said Tortorella, who had originally started him with Boyle and Pyatt.

Demoted is a strong word. Torts shaked the lines up for 2 periods. If it becomes permanent over the next few weeks and he slowly starts slipping into 3rd and 4th line minutes, we can call it a demotion...nice try though NYP, nice try.

I swear, the other newspapers must just sit and laugh when they read the stuff that comes out of this rag every day.
Maybe one day the NYPOST will reach the journalistic integrity of The Weekly World News

Regardless, the Rags are still on the outside looking in at the playoffs.

they sure are. And outside of the first 10 minutes of the game, they looked pretty good. Holtby was something last night

LMAO. It is funny ain't it? He's so easy to hate when he's on the other team. Sort of like Rotten Ronnie w/ bad breath? But, I really like him! Flop Ribs!

I heard he won but wouldn't change his name to Francis.

More often than not, Holtby was a brick wall when he played for Hershey and he played his best when he played the Baby Pens. Glad to see him stick in Washington.

I heard he was willing but they wouldn't accept the spelling with an "e". Sounded too Presbyterian. :-)

spelling with an "E" shouldn't have been an issue, they DO wear dresses

I wish he would have stuck with them OTHER than Rangers' games....

LOL. Point taken. BTW, tough game for you guys last night. Holtby has been like a brick wall lately. And you were unlucky enough to get that, plus Alex and Nick firing on all cylinders last night. But, it ain't over yet for either team.

Another give away points night at the Garden....not an empty seat in the house ..you could hear a pin drop most of the night....no control of the puck at all....another night of chasing the puck....it's ridiculous....they have as much offensive creativity as a breadcrumb......Torts has to go.....

I thought they were a little better (after the 1st half of the 1st period). They were actually shooting, and I thought Gaborik was more involved than he had been. I'm no progosticator, but I am saying they will win the next game....they had some passion last night...thats been missing (except for a select few)
