Why Vancouver must move Luongo

08:25 AM ET 03.26 | So far, the Penguins have stolen the trade deadline show, dealing from a position of depth. The Canucks don't have the same luxury Pittsburgh has. With their spotty draft record and 30-something cast, the Canucks find themselves in a situation where they are constructed to win now, but can't risk much future to go for it. It's quite the conundrum. ... What the Canucks do have is one too many No. 1 goalies. They will spend the lead-up to April 3 trying to finally close on the long-anticipated Roberto Luongo trade. It's time to shut the book on a saga that has drifted on way too long. If they can't pull the trigger on a Luongo-for-a-centre deal, consider it a failure for an organization.

That it has...not sure I'd call it a saga though.

QUOTE(#2):

I would really love to know how the story truly went - if Nonis really did turn down Kadri, Frattin and a second for Luongo, or if it was Nonis who proposed that to Burke and Lord Irketh made a beautifully wise decision for once. If it was the first scenario, Nonis deserves to get canned.

I don't know that we will know the answer till "A Drunken Irked Memoir" is published

Problem for VCR is there are no takers now. TOR looks content for the time being with their 'keepers, and fLA.....well what can you say about this sad team?

It would not be wise for VCR to move him to another Western Conf team, and I do not see anyone in the East in need.

I can see (in the off season) NJD being interested

QUOTE(#7):

Toronto needs a #1 d-man (like so many teams, but..), not goaltending. And if they did need goaltending, their first call would be to Calgary, not Vancouver.

I think they do need a tender. They are giving up a lot of points lately cause the goalie can't make the late key stop.

I'm 100% OK with it dragging on for another season or 2...

I don't understand why Luongo is still in Vancouver. Oh I do know the GM is way too greedy and the team is suffering because of it!

If Bozak was the guy, he would have a new deal by now.

I smell trades afoot. Nonis can't have watched the past few games and not realized how close this team actually is to being one of the true top ten in the league.

WTF's with his hair? And don't tell me he's growing it for some blind one-legged kid charity.
