09:30 AM ET 03.26 | It has been widely speculated that the Sacramento Kings would be moving to Seattle after the Seattle group led by investor Chris Hansen signed a deal to take over 65 percent of the franchise earlier this year, but there is a growing belief that the team could be staying in Sacramento thanks to a strong effort from mayor Kevin Johnson. Johnson has been rallying to keep the Kings in town and his latest move could be one that helps make that hope a reality. The mayor announced that Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs has joined the Sacramento bid for a new downtown arena. The Sacramento group features a number of very rich and powerful men that will be putting together a great proposal, which will be heard by the City Council Tuesday evening.

Gosh, can the give it up already? Sacramento had its time and its over. Live with it!!! It's probably better off for the franchise that it moves to Seattle--a far bigger market that is able to attract quality players to this moribund franchise.

shoulda, coulda, woulda moved to anaheim. But if they build it in Sac they will come, they've done a good job of selling that cow pasture in the past. My gosh, Sac is in the sticks and the arena is 20 miles beyond that. What this team needs are new owners, plain and simple!

again I don't see it happening for the kings staying in sacto, as stern has said his biggest regret is letting the sonics move out of seattlle, again I don't care what deal this group presents to the board of governors, what are the Maloofs going to want, money, and this is just likely going to push the seattle group to push for more stake in an ownership, and force sacramento's hand to either put 100 % in or nothing
