What the Browns are doing at QB is anyone's guess

08:06 AM ET 03.27 | The last time the Browns came across Jason Campbell, they broke his collarbone, ending a promising start with Oakland in 2011. [On Tuesday, the Cleveland signed Campbell] to provide the competition they've been seeking for incumbent Brandon Weeden. What this means for the future of Weeden, and backups Colt McCoy and Thad Lewis is anyone's guess at this point. What's more, the Browns are still scouring the college ranks for a quarterback in anticipation of next month's NFL draft, and will conduct a private workout soon with West Virginia's Geno Smith. They've also spent extra time on Oklahoma's Landry Jones and others, and will bring in Arizona dual-threat passer Matt Scott for a visit in the next week or so.

This is news? This has been standard operating procedure for the past few years.

Yep. That is the most commonly used headline in Cleveland... for a long time.

So they overpaid a FA LB but they get cheap with the most important position?

March 27, 2013  08:22 AM ET

If they draft a QB in the first couple of rounds, then I'm confused, too.

Otherwise, I get it. They got plenty of cap space, so bring in plenty of arms for camp, plenty of data points for comparison.

I sense that Colt McCoy probably won't be around when the regular season begins.

Cardboard cutout?
First female qb in NFL?
qb by committee?

How about a reality TV show?

Weeden doesn't turn 30 until October and it takes a good four years to fully develop as a NFL QB. shouldn't they at least wait until his 32nd birthday? Might be a record for giving up on a QB first round pick.

Nice follow through by Weeden in that pic. Too bad the pass was intercepted.

To Find a QB (for the mistake by the lake).

as a qb?

Bring in the usual reality TV crowd - trailer trash, bearded swamp things, hot lesbians, former Olympic athletes from minor sports, obnoxious chefs, and let them compete to QB the Browns every week. Make the decision based on stuff like avoiding airline change fees.

Hey, what they're doing now isn't working. Think outside the box.

Not sure about the limp-wrist look. Hey, maybe he's that player who's about to come out?

I can't wait til these reality shows die. Considering how much cheaper they are to start, so I doubt it.

It's an important component of the "800 channels and nothing's on" policy.

Check out "Vikings" on the History Channel. It's only episode 3 and we've already had rape and pillage. Still waiting for the "What's in your wallet?" credit card guys, though.

Smokin'...

Bout time History Channel put something on instead of that damn "Pawn Stars".

If Weeden can't beat out Campbell, the Browns are still in trouble. I'm getting a bad feeling about this whole Banner /Lombardi thing...

+1

But it could be worse... Pawn Stars is not nearly as terrible as that "Storage Hunters" abomination.
