Hasselbeck still in shock over release

08:02 AM ET 03.27 | Matt Hasselbeck clearly remembers the day when, as a third-grader in 1983, he found out his father was being traded by the Patriots. So when Hasselbeck found out last week the Titans were releasing him, he immediately thought of his three young children -- daughters Annabelle and Mallory as well as son Henry -- and how to deliver the news. One by one, they were told. It was emotional. Later that night, Hasselbeck agreed to terms with the Colts. A week later, it's still a blur. "I'm still in shock a little bit. It happened so fast," he said. "But there's no reason for anyone to feel bad for me. ... It's unfortunate it went down the way it did, and it's hard on the kids. But you have to move on."

I've always like Matt. Seems like a low ego guy who loves the game.

I am shocked. Pete Carroll sounded like such a sensitive guy talking about how Sanchez has been handled. I cannot believe he would just kick a qB out the door like that.

Flynn gets to compete for a starting job, again, and Seattle gets something in trade. Seriously, I think everyone wins here.

Except Sanchez, of course.

May I take credit for something I had nothing to do with?

That's because the initial shock of his release has now abated.

How do you explain to someone that they like Ryan Fitzpatrick more than you? After you say, you better sit down I have something to tell you, where do you go from there?

Am I supposed to feel sorry that he had to "break the news" to his children? So they would be disappointed in their multi-millionaire father because he wasn't working any more? Not to mention that he landed another job immediately? Over the past few years, how many of the 14 million Americans thrown out of work have had to "break the news" to their children that they were about to lose their house and all possessions and would be living out of the car for the foreseeable future?

March 27, 2013  09:20 AM ET

it's hard on the kids. But you have to move on.

How will you and the kids manage on 2 years/$8 million as a backup QB in rough-and-tumble Indianapolis?

Maybe his shrill sister-in-law can help out with the car payments.

No reason to be shocked when you're old, subpar accuracy, and no zip on the ball
