01:57 PM ET 03.27 | The New Orleans Saints may be interested in signing free-agent pass rusher Dwight Freeney, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Saints are looking to upgrade their league-worst defense from a season ago, and, after missing out on Elvis Dumervil, Freeney could be next in line. The Colts released the 11-year veteran last month.

He'll fit right in.

If the Packers were really serious about improving the defense they would be making a play for Freeny,

You had me today Packersgal until this post. The Packers should NEVER touch Freeney. 1. We never go for players over 30 in free agency first of all, 2, he's nearly washed up. Only has a year or two at absolute best, 3, he's a prototypical 4-3 rush end, where as we play a 3-4 defense, 4, He's going to be asking for WAY more than we would even dream about spending on him (assuming Ted Thompson was drunk enough to think about signing him), and 5, He's TOTALLY undersized for an end in Capers', McCarthy's and Thompson's teams. Draft and develop, and don't go nuts like these other teams in free agency. Championships aren't won in March. There's going to be players just as good if not better in the draft plus we'd get 8-10 more years out of them PLUS they'll be far less expensive. Other than that, he'd be a great pickup...LOL.

TT has signed older free agents in the past, Woodson, Pickett and Benson last year. It's all about winning now and if Freeny has a year or two left, he could certainly make an impact on the packers D. I'm sure McCarthy and Capers could find a place for him..

Those were all impact players. Freeney isn't even close to an impact player. Plus you know as a Packer fan, the brass believes it's important to win now, yes, but maybee even more important to win every year for the next 5-10 years. I'm sure they could find a place for him yes, but remember what happened to Aaron Kampman when we switched to 3-4? They had to make him a LB and he was done because he couldn't do it. Freeney would have to do the same thing, and that would never work.

Oh yes, I remember Kampman trying to make the switch. You're right, it would never work..

I wouldn't say it would never work but the odds are pretty long. I was hoping they'd make a run for Dumervil but they probably couldn't fit him under the cap.

freeney could be nice for a year, maybe 2, in NOLA.
