Joey Logano: NASCAR's heel?

03:53 PM ET 03.28 | Joey Logano is not taking anything from anybody. His racing style wasn't that clean either as he blocked almost everyone that tried to pass him. So is Joey Logano becoming NASCAR's bad boy? This isn't the first time Joey Logano has been a part of a rivalry. At Pocono in 2010, Joey Logano got a into a wreck with Kevin Harvick. Joey said after the race that Harvick's wife wears the fire suit in the family. Joey is becoming a very aggressive racer as well. On the restart, as we all know by now, Joey blocked Tony Stewart all the way to the grass. He also blocked Hamlin while they were fighting for the win. Being the bad guy in NASCAR has one problem though. You have to be able to back up what you do and say on the track. Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Kyle Busch are good examples. Sometimes though being the bad guy and being hated can be a good thing for a driver. Kyle Busch thrived on that kind of stuff and he wins in almost any race.

Pampers is a danger on the track and should be sat down for 5 races for his way that he ran Hamlin into the wall and pampers called it raceing.Pampers is hurting the sport by his actions on an off the track by his driveing and his mouth.I just hope that he does not kill someone by his driveing he already hurt a follow driver an almost killed him by his actions. We do not need drivers like pampers on the track,I would love to see NASCAR ban him for life if he keeps this up.

Please.. The Mr. Ed team of Brad K and Logano are all talk.. that team is made for each other.. along with their smug of a car-owner.. of course if Brad K or Logano did bite you it would leave one heck of a mark with those sets of teeth!!.. in order for Logano to do what Kyle has done.. he'd have to start winning races 1st

Never going to happen, Nascar's higher authority, love the controversy, and the money it brings in. If you all think back, who does he remind you of ? I'll leave it at that. I will say this, he is heading for another Jimmy Spencer attitude adjustment from somebody.

Agree....my first reaction was to wish Logano be suspended for as long as Denny is off......but then, with that kind of deterrent, drivers would become too polite and that would totally ruin racing......Logano will get his several times over this year.........that will keep racing exciting.
So to answer that question, NO ...Logono is not Nascar's heel.....but YES , he is Nascar's "stupido".

ichael Waltrip Racing announced that Mark Martin will fill in for injured Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin in the #11 Toyota Camry next weekend at Martinsville Speedway. Martin will return to the #55 Aaron's Dream Machine Toyota at Texas Motor Speedway on April 13 and resume his previously scheduled run of events with MWR for the remainder of the 2013 NASCAR Sprint cup season. As previously announced, Brian Vickers will race MWR's #55 Jet Edge Toyota Camry for MWR at Martinsville.

they can't make up their minds..

I am not sure that I haven't seen Stewart, JJ and the other elite do the same thing....

Martin was not scheduled to race this next one anyway.....Vickers was.....so the choice was between the available Martin or Sadler.........my money would have gone to Martin as he is much better on short tracks like Martinsville.....also the schedule for the 3 drivers of #55 is already set for the year, so Martin taking the #11 makes perfect sense.....haven't heard yet who will fill the 11 for the rest of Hamlin's offtime.....but it probably will Vickers and maybe Sadler.....Sadler was just not that great at the cup level.

This bad mouthing Joey is a joke. If one reviews the race footage objectively, they're rubbing fenders, Joey gets a little ahead of Denny, Denny turns into Joey's rear quarter to turn him into the wall but wreaks his self in the process. It's racing. Stewarts being a little girl/bully. If his drivers don't protect themselves or their position they won't be around for long. I pull for Gibbs cars, always have from back in the Jarrett days. Denny's current situation is just unfortunate but not the "fault" of Joey.

April 1, 2013  01:16 PM ET

Joey was doing his best to win the race (Denny was too???), he had one of the best cars all day and was competitive from the get go. If you look at the tape (in slomo if you have to) at the very last moment the 11 actually tried to take the 22 out, by rubbing him on the right side quarter, this is how the 22 ended up in the wall and why the 11 ended up hitting the inside wall. The 22 was overheating at the time and I???m still surprised, overheating and all he managed to keep up the speeds he did, he had to do everything he could to win the race while his engine was still responding, if he didn???t do this I???m sure Captain Penske would soon be looking for someone who would and put him in the 22.
Being a Redskins fan for many, many years I have been a JGR fan since they started, so that should take care of someone thinking I???m not a fan but it looked like they were both just going for the win and both made a big mistake by forgetting the 18 was running right behind them, lesson for both, never forget about the 18 until after the checkered flag drops.
Joey has always had the talent, he just never really got the chance to mature as a result of Smoke???s early departure from JGR, he is now starting to show that talent under the Penske flag, I was expecting his attitude to get more aggressive because of his new team owner and his teammate. Remember BK and Carl in Dega? Brad takes no prisoners, ala Stewart, if you???re in front, go or get the heck out of my way! This is partly why today Brad is the defending champ. I haven???t heard any comments from The Coach either way, I???m pretty sure he has talk to both behind the scenes but we will never hear about it. Maybe Joey will be wrecked soon, maybe not, I don???t think the 18 will do it, not just for the heck of wrecking him, Kyle seems to like Joey, he might wreck him though under similar circumstances, Matt probably would do the same as he is new in JGR and really has not personal beef with Joey.
Smoke was pissed because Joey pulled a smoke on him, he has done the same many time, sometimes with worst results, he???ll get over it???
To me it was a racing incident, **** happens, let them race, especially when they are out front racing for the win!

He's not a bad boy............he's a sissy boy!!!!!

Hmmm, 1 comment since 2007 and the ever present ????? reeks of copying an article. Looks like the old dupes are popping up.

Joey's a putz with a big mouth. He'll learn even if he don't want to LOL

All this goes on while JJ(also known as 5 time champ) sits quietly outside the chaos and rides to another championship. Priceless
