Redstone Golf Course expected to toughen up on Friday

08:00 PM ET 03.29 | With the weather in South Texas getting a bit more windy, and humid, expect the golfers going out on Friday afternoon at The Shell Houston Open, to find conditions a little tougher than they had on Thursday morning. The first round produced scores in the afternoon that were about two strokes tougher than the morning crew, but today it looks to be around two shots more difficult than Thursday. For one thing, the greens will harden with the wind, and not hold as well on the approach shots. The second is pin placement on Thursday was very generous. Look for pins to be a little closer to the huge amounts of water on this golf course for Friday's action. The Texas wind is different than what PGA Tour players are used to. In Texas, the wind tends to swirl around this golf course, and swirl in gusts. You will find players who hit good shots that will either fly the green, or come up 10 yards short simply because the wind changed direction during their backswing.
