10:30 AM ET 03.30 | First baseman Paul Goldschmidt was deftly tap-dancing around the elephant in the room on Friday afternoon when catcher Miguel Montero -- in a way only he can -- jokingly called attention to it. "Oh, you guys are talking to the rich guy!" Montero yelled toward a group of reporters encircling Goldschmidt. Well, technically, Goldschmidt isn't so rich yet. But sometime today the Diamondbacks are expected to finalize a five-year, $32 million contract with their young slugger, a deal that will cover the 2014-2018 seasons and include a team option for 2019. Goldschmidt, though, was mum with reporters. "Obviously there's rumors out there," he said. "If something happens then I'll be able to say something about it. But right now, nothing is final or official or anything like that, so I don't really have too much to say."

With the salaries of baseball players today, it looks like to me the DBacks are getting a steal if they can sign their first baseman to this contract.
