Devean George, injured entering the season and mostly buried on the Mavericks bench since, said he's open to a trade in order to jump-start his disappointing season. George said before Sunday's game against the Detroit Pistons that, if his role remains limited, he would like the chance to play elsewhere in hopes of increasing his stock as an unrestricted free agent after the season.

who cares he is useless who would want him?

Wait until you leave in a package to the Nets... then you will have second thoughts, though you will definitely get to play...

I think the Mavs will have to give up too much to bring in Kidd, it's just not worth it.

The Mavs know that other west teams, like the Lakers, are serious about winning. Watch out, you now have a happy Kobe, and a big man on the same floor... I think we all know what happens when this happens..

He would be stupid to ask for a trade, his contract ends this season and he could end up with a bad team. Just finish the season.

February 4, 2008  09:36 AM ET

His own teammates didn't realize he was still in the league. Shut up Devean!

February 4, 2008  09:56 AM ET

Here's an interesting concept: why not work on your game? If you weren't riding the bench, maybe you would rather play for a team with a shot at accomplishing something.

February 4, 2008  10:03 AM ET

Wow. I didn't know that George was relevant.

February 4, 2008  10:32 AM ET

Devean George needs to work on his game. Hllywd is one hundred percent correct in this.

February 4, 2008  11:32 AM ET

George has been overrated since the day he came into the league. I'm surprised he's still around to be honest.

February 4, 2008  11:45 AM ET

Deveoan may wanting to try staying of the IR list, before he starts making demands.

February 4, 2008  11:45 AM ET

He was a stiff in LA, now Mav knows that as well...

February 4, 2008  12:23 PM ET

Remember when Kobe won three championships for you.....??????

February 4, 2008  12:30 PM ET

Lol this is the best pic they can find for him?

February 4, 2008  12:42 PM ET

yeah mattdog....thats funny i think that was the only time he made it into a game

February 4, 2008  01:38 PM ET

Devean if I were you I would shut up and be a team player instead of worrying on how much you would make next year. Worry about this year. I don't understand; you want to be traded so you could increase your stock. Well, anything above "zero" is an improvement. Just be careful what you wish for. You could be traded to a last place team (HEAT or TIMBERWOLVES) and not make it to the playoffs.

MAVs are in line to make it to the playoffs.

George is a bench warmer...this guy has no game...who would really want this guy?

February 4, 2008  03:13 PM ET

Great picture. He is barely in it. Reminds me of the picture from 16 Candles where AM Hall tries to get a picture with the hot blonde and the guy taking the picture barely gets his eye in the corner of the pic.

February 4, 2008  03:15 PM ET

of course he wants out and wants to comeback probably to the lakers now that theyre competitive again..hahaha no thanks

February 4, 2008  03:39 PM ET

talk to memphis... rudy gay for him and a few picks... doesnt hurt to ask...

February 4, 2008  03:52 PM ET

I almost did not recognize George in that photo, he usually is wearing a suit behind the Mavs bench.

Hi, my name is Devean. Remember me? I hit a couple of good shots a few years back on those Laker's teams, back when Shaq was still himself and nobody knew Kobe was a egomaniacal jerk. I've reduced my role to standing behind the 3 line exclusively, won't even take another shot on the floor or drive to draw the defense before kicking it out any more. So please, reward me by playing me more!

Maybe if the salaries match they can swap him straight across for J.J. Reddick, and we won't have to hear anymore from either of these annoying, 10-minute at best, one-dimensional backup schmucks for another couple of years.
