06:40 PM ET 03.30 | The Colorado Rockies won't have Tyler Colvin on their opening day roster, as the team has sent him down to Triple-A to start the 2013 season. Todd Helton will eventually need a replacement at first base, and Colvin's too good of a player to be playing in Triple-A. Personally, I thought his season last year was enough to help him make the roster at the start of the season. I didn't even really expect him to be in the discussion for possible demotions. Either way, Colvin will be beginning the season in Triple-A, and Jordan Pacheco, Jonathan Herrera and Eric Young Jr. all made the team over him. For a guy who hit 18 home runs, and drove in 72 runs, while collecting a solid .290 batting average, I'm pretty surprised that a poor spring resulted in him being demoted.

I thought Colvin was an outfielder?

He shouldn't have just phoned it in this spring and hit .167. Colvin is a backup outfielder who struggles with consistancy. Eric Young beat him out and Pacheco is Helton's primary backup at first.

Who is the guy in the picture? Looks like he's wearing a Mariners' uniform, not Rockies or even Cubs (Tyler's previous team).
