08:21 AM ET 04.01 | Welcome to the spotlight, Tyrone Swoopes. If the Orange-White spring football game is any indication, we'll see a familiar David Ash in the fall. Ash looked to be in vintage Ash form, and we all know what that means. Very good at times, but also very inconsistent. ... Swoopes had his moments, breaking off a 21-yard scramble and also eluding Hicks and Peter Jinkens on a potential sack for a short gain. He looks like a powerful runner. Mack Brown says he's ahead of the others for the No. 3 spot. Applewhite doesn't even rule out the No. 2 position. He said Swoopes as well as Jalen Overstreet and Connor Brewer will have every chance to take over the No. 2 backup position.

It ain't gonna be Tech I can tell you that ...
OU returns what, 4 starters on defense?
WVU lost their stud player, so did KSU, so did Baylor
TCU just got their best QB out of rehab
Which soph QB will lead OkSU?
B12 is wide open.

Good, I like wide open conferences. Can't wait for the season to start.

I wish this was true ... but I'm calling BS on it because I know it's not.

Mack will be forever grateful to stumbling bumbling duck-throwing Case for somehow beating A&M. Case is Mack's "ringer" LOL.

But if Ash is looking the same as last year then QB competition needs to be wide open.

Agreed. B12 will have a new feel this year.

There is a lot of buzz regarding Swopes because he's a 6'-5" 250 lb kid who should still be in HS. Him and Overstreet are very athletic.

I mentioned yesterday, Ash looked good until they started working in the freshman receivers. I recall one bad play of his.

He looked to be in command and made some good checkdowns, something missing from last year.

In all the Swoopes hoopla, to me the biggest issue it raised is that the D still cannot tackle.
