Palmer likely headed to Arizona

02:22 PM ET 04.01 | The Oakland Raiders are likely on the verge of trading quarterback Carson Palmer to the Arizona Cardinals for a fourth- or fifth-round draft pick. Oakland surrendered a 2012 first and 2013 second-round pick for Palmer, and the results have been nothing but disappointing. In two seasons with the Raiders, Palmer threw for 6,771 yards, 35 touchdowns and 30 interceptions, while completing 60.9 percent of his passes. As Oakland's starting quarterback, Palmer led the Raiders to a paltry 8-16 record. Palmer refuses to restructure his current contract, which mandates that he earns $15 million in 2013. Consequently, the Raiders decided to either trade or cut Palmer -- and it appears that the Cardinals are a willing trade partner.

Nice picture - probably emotes exactly how Palmer is feeling about heading to Arizona.

How Embarrassing after his trade demands while in Cinncinati. He got what he wanted but then couldn't make it with the Raiders? Really...the Raiders dumped you! EMBARRASSING!!! He'll probably do very well in AZ though.......Right!
USC quarterbacks...buyer beware!

Headed to Arizona to play for the Cards or to retire? The latter would be less embarrassing.

this year we get to see what Bruce Arians can do without a Ben Roethlisberger or Andrew Luck to carry him....

Although it pains me to say it, Palmer is still a huge upgrade over Kevin Kolb & The Amazing Deflating Talent Pool at QB last season. They won't win much with him, but on his worst day he buries those guys. Still, he's not the answer to anything.

True, Palmer is a vast update to what they got now at QB!

It doesn't matter who the Cardinals have at QB if they can't do a better job of protecting him.

It's the same look Matt Leinart had on his face on draft day when the Cardinals took him.

Cincinnati to Oakland to Arizona. That's quite a career arc. If there are football gods, this guy must have offended them big time.

4000yds 22tds 14ints why does everybody murder the guy? Thats better than about half the qb's in the league. Arizona, Jacksonville, Miami, Cleveland, buffalo, Minnesota, St. Louis, Chiefs, Titans, Jets. He is bettter than all of those qb's

Those numbers don't tell the whole story....I like ESPN's 'Total QBR' because it involves more metrics than the NFL QBR..If you look to TQBR, Palmer is 26th out of 32 QBs for 2012. Also, I've not done the research, but I believe a lot of Palmer's stats came during 'garbage time'....

He's going to a situation not too dissimilar from the one he's leaving.

Well, Palmer COULD do--aw, screw it.

USC QBs......buyer beware. Wonder what teams are thinking about Matt Barkley? Has there ever been a highly successful QB in the NFL from USC???
