Seahawks eyeing Thigpen?

02:33 PM ET 04.01 | The Seattle Seahawks are considering free agent Tyler Thigpen as Russell Wilson's backup at quarterback. Thigpen would be a good fit in Seattle's read-option offense, as he led a similar attack in college at Coastal Carolina. Thigpen is a seven-year veteran, selected in the seventh round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings before making the roster with the Kansas City Chiefs, and he has just one season with extensive starting experience. That was in 2008, when he rose to the top of the Chiefs' depth chart after Damon Huard and Brodie Croyle suffered season-ending injuries. During that season, Thigpen started 11 games and played in three others, completing 54.8 percent of his passes for 2,608 yards, 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also rushed for 386 yards and three scores. Aside from 2008, Thigpen has never played in more than five games in a single season.

Why would anyone look at a quarterback who couldn't make it in Buffalo?

Maybe in the Hawks offence he could thrive...behind a guy named Wilson, of course.

Because he'd be cheap. The Hawks used to sign guys like this to be starters. Now they're signing so many quality guys they need to start a little maintenance on the payroll.

You just hurt Vince Young's feelings.

And, for the record, Thigpen failed in KC and Miami as well.

Because all the Arizona quarterbacks are still under contract?

i dont know if he can ever get the mental part of the game down but he was fun to watch that one season in kc. on a crap team he made some plays and gave them some sort of energy. its easy to wail on the guy because he didnt end up making an impact on some shoddy teams. not saying hes the next wilson or capernick, just that hes got some game worth looking into.

Same reason the Niners picked up McCoy today a backup who's cheap and has some starting experience

Same reason Colt McCoy went to the Niners a back-up with some starting experience with a cheap contract

Had a short stay with the Raiders also.

What is Carson smoking?

They are reporting that the deal to send him to Arizona 'hit a snag.' Apparently the snag is Carson still thinks he's going to make $13 million this year. Somebody needs to talk to him.

Well they dumped Kolb and Skelton, but 3rd place must be their objective. With hard work of course.
