03:04 PM ET 04.01 | Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is expected to resume running next week. The news comes from Griffin's father, who has been especially vocal in the past regarding his son. Griffin tore his ACL, LCL and meniscus in his right knee during a Jan. 6 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the playoffs. He had surgery three days later, but his recovery and rehabilitation have mostly been unknown throughout the offseason, until now. According to his father, Griffin has been running in the pool and doing some work on the treadmill, which means medical clearance for full running on the field is right around the corner. Griffin has repeatedly been pegged as "ahead of schedule," which could mean that he'll be ready for the 2013 season.

They were refering to his mouth.

HAHAHA!!!

great for him if he's truly ready, but foolish if he is rushing it.

Here's hoping he gets past Week 1.

WAY TOO SOON.

It's only been 4 months since he had the surgery. I don't understand the rush.

He's really taking a risk coming back this fast. He'll push to be ready for the first game and be lucky to make it past game three.

Agreed. Too soon to be running, even straight out and back. Take the time; have a career. Or not, and retire from football this year. He's done a fine job and is well on his way to making a great name for himself in the league. He's working through his injury well and has nothing to prove. It would be a real shame to see yet another young talent like this out of the league so soon.

He will be running FROM Shanahan, screaming, "Don't put me in! Don't put me in!"

April 2, 2013  07:12 AM ET

He can determine if he can run or not.....

Remember... You fools are mortal "bloggers"....

And I'm being gracious with the word "bloggers".

Freakin' Shanahan doesn't care. He'll ride RGIII until he can't even crawl and then just hop on another horse. RGIII better take care of himself because his coach won't.

Pssst..... He's not going to play this year.

Not so fast there. RGIII wouldn't be doing anything that wasn't approved by Dr. Andrews. I think the recovery of A. Peterson gives a bit of a perspective to how fast players are coming back from what was once a career-ending injury.

Plus running, lifting weights, building strength and flexibility isn't the same as practice or live game action.

Well said, Austin Lion. Let the doctors dictate what he can and can't do. Something tells me he's not listening to medical advice coming from sports forum posters, regardless.

Wow, shouldn't all you Doctors be at work saving lives or something? I'm sure RGIII is not doing anything without the permission of his doctor.
