04:07 PM ET 04.01 | The Toronto Maple Leafs are still interested in acquiring goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff from the Calgary Flames, according to Darren Dreger of TSN on Monday morning. Apparently, the two sides are no closer to a deal, but plan on talking over the course of the next three days leading up to Wednesday???s trade deadline. General manager Dave Nonis has stated that he is interested in acquiring a veteran goaltender to help James Reimer. Kiprusoff is seemingly a suitable fit given the short-term commitment left on his contract. The issue of course is asking price and Kiprusoff???s interest in playing for a new team. He and his wife just gave birth to a child and many believe he isn???t interested in leaving home.

QUOTE(#1):

If Kiprusoff came here, the expectation would be that he wouldn't be sitting on the bench in a ballcap waiting for a bad game by Reimer. And I don't think that's fair to Reimer. At all.Like I said this morning, get a d-man, let the goaltending play itself out, and try to win a playoff series.

I find myself thinking that makes a lot of sense DL. I agree that Reimer has done a good job under a lot of pressure and deserves some respect. Now there, I've said it out loud. I'm waiting for Canuck to set me straight! (And not politely) :-)

Didn't he say if he was traded he wouldn't report?

I agree with you Slappy. Last Saturday was one of the ugliest shutouts I have ever seen but he's getting the job done.

Wasn't that because of family issues? I think the media may have mislead a bit there.

well..not family issues...more just because he has a newborn and I guess that at 36 he doesn't want to pack up and go elsewhere. I can understand that, even if I don't necessarily agree. It's probably just a tactic to ensure that if he gets moved that it would be to a legit contender.

If my career was all but over and wanted to eek out another cool million in a place where the bar isn't that high.....well.....yeah!

"Maple Leafs still interested in Miikka Kiprusoff"

But, they're not getting it! Miikka Kiprusoff isn't interested in them.

based on the way hes playing lately we'd be dancing in the streets if we got anything for him. he got pulled for allowing three goals on five shots tonight.
