Sandoval insists there's no pain in elbow

08:14 AM ET 04.02 | Pablo Sandoval made three throws to first base without any apparent issues Monday, but it was one he made after fielding Matt Kemp's slow roller in the sixth inning that raised eyebrows. [Sandoval] appeared to clench his hand repeatedly and shake his right arm after bouncing [the throw]. But he remained in the game and insisted that the irritated nerve in his right elbow didn't bother him in the slightest on Opening Day. It certainly didn't affect his right-handed swing; despite just two at-bats in the past two weeks, he managed to get a pair of the Giants' four hits against Clayton Kershaw in a 4-0 loss at Dodger Stadium. "Lucky," Sandoval said, smiling. "I was concentrating on getting ready for the season. I'm getting there."

Sandoval should probably be traded to the AL for a true third baseman.

Forgive me if it takes all day to try and figure out this statement.

April 2, 2013  11:17 AM ET

I'd be more worried about him having a stroke running the bases!

April 2, 2013  11:47 AM ET

It's an embarassment to the sport that a dude this fat can play a position. I'd be dropping bunts all day forcing him into labour with that ponch.

Hmmm, another ignorant statement.

Sandoval moves pretty darn good for a guy his size. Watch a game, moron.

QUOTE(#9):

I'm saying Sandoval, while a good hitter, is too fat to play the hot corner for the next several years. Send him to, say, Seattle for Kyle Seagar, who is better with the glove.

Have you watched enough of him at 3B to make that statement?

I'm a Giants fan so I'll be more likely to defend Sandoval's ability to play 3B than some other people would.

While I would agree that his weight has become a slight issue that remains on the club's radar, the guy makes great plays at 3B and is more than capable.

....fat boys on the corners is popular in detroit....maybe they need a backup....and it is correct that slow-footed corners better hit like crazy to keep their jobs....

"Moves pretty darn good for a guy his size."

That statement says it all. If he moved well, the statement would be "he moves well."

You answered my critique perfectly, you Rhodes scholar.

Now go read some more so you can make stronger, definitive statements in the future which actually don't strengthen the opponent's remarks.

Sandoval is a tubby behemoth. he couldn't play an athletic spot on the field (SS, 2B, any outfield position). Fat guys usually play a corner or DH. Watch a game, moron.

Let's see, we're talking about Detroit and San Fran... last year's World Series teams. I'm not sure there much to criticize in the face of that amount of success.

How many balls does he miss getting to when going right or left due to his girth? Compare him to elite 3b-men. Because a fat dude can occasionally reach, flop and flip doesn't make him a great defender. He is a good hitter, less than average defender. In other words, a future DH in the A.L.

Not talking about the organizations. Just the defensive prowess of their hot corners. And it has been well-documented. By far more intelligent analysts and observers than us.

....tigers got swept....fat boy sandoval was on the couch....how do you measure sucess?

Nothing seems to bother this guy, wind him up and watch him play, good for him!!!

Sandoval was on the couch? Which WS did you see?

The Giants should trade Sandoval for all the other third
basemen who have hit three home runs in one world series game, hit two off Justin
Verlander in one game and who have two W.S. Rings.
