Yankees' identity crisis revealed

08:16 AM ET 04.02 | One game does not a season make, but the Yankees offered a few red flags on Opening Day. There is no reason to doubt that, not just yet, but there are so many questions about the identity of these Yankees, individually and collectively, the same ones the Red Sox couldn't run from while crashing and burning last season. How soon will Derek Jeter return as the infield anchor? Is there enough punch in an offense that produced one extra-base hit -- by Francisco Cervelli, the nine-hole hitter -- and six over all to compensate for the injuries to Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Curtis Granderson? In his contract season, is Robinson Cano enough of a Type A personality to handle the run-producing load and the requisite attention?

One game does not a season make, but I'm glad it went the way it did! It's been 3 years since we won an opening day game!

That was one God awful team the Yankees rolled out to field yesterday.

It certainly did not evoke memories of the '27 Yankees.

Ha! Don't count your chickens yet, but it helps to get off to a good start!

I'm equally disturbed that Ben Franscisco was the starting DH.

Maybe I'm looking for a silver lining, but their lineup against RHP should be better than yesterday's abomination.

What kills me is that this team cost $230 mil to assemble.

Noooo! I won't lie and say I'm not happy it turned out the way it did, but the NY fans I know here I don't wish to be miserable. I know how much that sucks ... look at the season we had to tolerate last year! I honestly can commiserate.
