04:09 PM ET 04.02 | The Vancouver Canucks have extended the contract of forward Chris Higgins on Tuesday afternoon, according to an announcement from the team. Higgins was playing in the final year of his current contract and would have become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. However, he and the Canucks came to terms on a four-year, $10 million extension that will carry an annual average value of $2.5 million against the salary cap. In 35 games this season, he has recorded nine goals and five assists for 14 points. Higgins has averaged 16:23 of ice-time per game, including an average of 1:58 on the penalty kill.
