05:52 PM ET 04.02 | The New York Mets are taking ticket promotions to a different level. In an effort to get fans excited for the start of the Major League Baseball season, the Mets are offering up free tickets to this weekend's series against the Miami Marlins. The Mets and SNY sent out a link on Twitter yesterday to offer up the promotion to those following their accounts. Of course, all you need is the link to view the promotion and score your free seat to one of this weekend's games. The "Tweet A Ticket" promotion allows fans that buy a ticket to one of the games in the Marlins series to receive a plus-one. In essence, it is a two-for-one deal. Attendance in April is generally slow, so it comes as no surprise to see teams go to such great lengths to encourage fans to show up and fill the seats.

They still won't have a capacity crowd, and honestly I can't blame New Yorkers.

The Mets franchise is a mess right now, and for a high profile, large market team, that just isn't acceptable, especially since it looks like the road back to being a good team will take several years, at least.
