Pat White working out for Washington Redskins

07:09 PM ET 04.02 | NFL.com's Jason La Confora reports that quarterback Pat White is scheduled to visit the Redskins on Wednesday, and is "very likely" to sign with the team. The fact that White cancelled his scheduled visit with the division-rival New York Giants is a good indicator of White's chances to sign with the Redskins. White would provide the Redskins with a backup for Robert Griffin III that is also capable of running the option. In all likelihood, current backup Kirk Cousins will remain the second-string option, though Cousins is more of a pocket passer. White previously played with the Miami Dolphins in 2009, and has also tried his hand at minor-league baseball. White also worked out for the 49ers two weeks ago. The 27-year old would join an offense that runs a similar scheme to what he ran in his college days at West Virginia.

White sounds like a THREE-TIME LOSER.... will he give Hockey a try next?

I seriously doubt an article from "All over the hill", knows the future depth chart of the Redskins.

And considering RGIII's knee, I would work on getting that Play Option Read out of the playbook.... But you know how Shanny likes to run his men.

I agree. Consider the source. Still, it might not be a bad idea to use White or some one with a similar skill set as practice fodder. I think it is reasonable to assume that Griffin will be unavailable to practice for most of the offseason and having someone who can run some of the more mobile packages in the Redskins offense will keep the team sharp for Griffin's return.

Also a key indicator that they plan on RGIII playing this season.

I think Pat White is "Over the Hill" if that is what this news source concentrates on.

Only played one year with the Dolphins and they didn't use him. After that he gave baseball a try in the Royals organization. I guess he's tired of the minor league bus rides, and wants to give the nfl another shot. They got the deal done today.

They did use him and he promptly got knocked out of the game and out for rest of the season (against the Steelers). The Dolphins then cut him in the offseason and he didn't catch on anywhere so he tried baseball.

If he couldn't survive even one NFL game, I don't seee him surviving a period in a Hockey game either.

Yuup! If it's any indication their motto is "Only people that're over the hill ALL of the time".

Although in this case, White never really started up the hill in the first place.... :^D

The signing makes sense to me, through training camp at the least. Two backups with different styles.

April 3, 2013  09:42 AM ET

Put Pat White and Geno Smith together and you know what you'll get? An ex-Mountaineer QB with double the liabilities.

I see.... That must be where his concussion lawsuit came from. He dropped it as soon as the Skins called him.

I'd bet he picks it up again if he doesn't get signed or when he gets cut by the Skins.

So, if he gets sad, will this rag's headline be, "Red's White has the Blues"?
