07:12 PM ET 04.02 | Jonny Venters' left elbow injury is going to keep him out for the next four weeks. Venters met with Dr. James Andrews Monday and as of right now, surgery does not seem to be necessary for the 28-year-old left-hander. The bad news is that Andrews injected Venters' elbow with platelet-rich plasma which requires Venters to be shut down for a minimum of four weeks. Venters has arguably been one of the best relievers in the league. Venters had 230 appearances in his first three seasons, including a major league leading 85 in 2011, when he had a 1.84 ERA and limited hitters to a .176 batting average. Venters is second in appearances since 2010, behind only Sean Marshall (231), with 230. Among all relievers during this period, Venters is third in innings (229-2/3), fourth in strikeouts (258), second in walks (110), and ninth in ERA (2.23). He had a little bit of a drop off last season posting a career high 3.22 ERA but pitched much better after a DL stint. While Venters is out, the Braves will still have one of the best bullpens in baseball. They will have to rely heavily on Eric O'Flaherty and Jordan Walden. O'Flaherty posted a 1.73 ERA in 64 appearances for the Braves last season being a great surprise for the club.

and the pitchers with injuries keep coming towards the younger pitchers,, but can VENTERS overcome this injury-rash?? or should he take a year off?? just in case the injuries be more serious!!!

April 3, 2013  12:51 PM ET

the angels do have a tough lineup in paper,, but in the real game seems as if all the hitters took the day off in their first game, halos would need more than just one lucky night with chris iannetta, angels are in desperate mode should pujols continue with his albastros passive approach in the plate? should hamilton careless about run production? should trout hit below mendoza line in the month of april? should trumbo increased his strikeout number?

April 3, 2013  12:53 PM ET

teams need to play hard and agressive baseball,, from their very first game,,, angels can't relay in pitching only,, wonder why ervin santana didn't won many games last year? a lack of run production can kill any good pitching performance!!

April 3, 2013  12:54 PM ET

DAN HAREN did had the same bad luck as santana did last year, should halos had scored a bunch of runs last year?? i bet you those two pitchers would had been in the halos uniform/team!!

April 3, 2013  12:56 PM ET

the halos would have to findout in the hard way,,, can't win games with such lousy anemic run production,, still thinking is the pitching problem all alone?? re-evaluate the lineup and push even harder in order to win games, a bunch of runs should be scored in every game!!!

April 3, 2013  12:59 PM ET

the reds were unble to score no more than one run,, but the halos would be facin tougher offensive and tougher pitching today, should latos falter in his first game as he did last year??
now lets not forget, latos was by far one of the best starters in the reds rotation,,,

April 3, 2013  01:03 PM ET

but angels DO NEED their offensive to be more acurate and more disciplined lineup,,, should the team started a slower month of april as they did it last year?? don't forget there are tough teams after the reds, and they aren't going to be scoring one run or two in every game/angels have to improve their offensive attack unless they would like to be in the last place on their own division,,,,

April 3, 2013  01:06 PM ET

thew braves have outstanding bullpen except the team taxed too many times their relievers and now,, the team has to pay the price for over used their own relievers,,,

April 3, 2013  01:07 PM ET

great bullpen great rotation, and great lineup, but bad decissions could dislocated their goals in the long season!!

April 3, 2013  01:11 PM ET

rangers aren't going to go away quitely they still have a tough rotation, and the hitters should fall into the right place on every game,, so do not think rangers are done just because,, no napoli? no worries, no hamilton? no problem, no michael young? not a big deal, the rangers DO HAVE better offensive lineup than the halos or the mariners,,,

April 3, 2013  01:38 PM ET

the A's aren't clicking,,at least not just yet!!!
