07:46 PM ET 04.02 | BBVA Compass is moving on from its sponsorship of their bowl game in Birmingham after the 2014 season and will move on to seek other promotional opportunities. BBVA is finishing up a four-year contract they signed with ESPN after Papa John's sponsored the event from 2006-2010, and has decided not to renew. BBVA is making the announcement now so that both the city and ESPN will have ample time to find a new sponsor. The next bowl game is eight months from now.

I gotta admit. I have no idea what product or service BBVA Compass provides. Bowl sponsorship might not be the best way for them to build brand awareness.

Banking industry based in Birmingham. Probably not enough bang for the advertising buck to advertise locally.
