Crosby unable to speak

07:59 AM ET 04.03 | For the time being, the best we're going to get from Sidney Crosby may come in the form of attitude reports. A broken jaw has put [Crosby's] career on hold and led to a severe change in his diet. It doesn't seem to have affected his upbeat demeanor, though. That's what teammates who have visited him in the hospital say, and that certainly was the tone of an email Monday that Crosby sent. Crosby wrote that he's resigned to a diet of "soup and shakes for a while" and that verbal communication is pretty much out of the question "for another couple days" because he is "pretty swollen right now." Crosby was struck in the face by a puck in the second minute of the Penguins' 2-0 victory Saturday.

I'm sure he can still whine.

Hopefully (although if last night was an idication, maybe not) Malkin can lead while Crosby is recuperating, but no doubt Crosby will be back for playoffs.

The kid has some bad luck...no doubt.

Pens always adjust very well to injuries. Blysma does a great job getting his team ready when one of his two stars are out of the lineup.

Amazing that this is at least the third time in two year I can remember Sid taking a puck to the face in an Isles game. Very strange.

Yep, maybe they should sit him for Isles games, and burn the blue jerseys once and for all?

The hockey crowd and players is a superstitious lot, so I am willing to try anything at this point.

He can still engage in digital communications, can't he? He can talk to Tortafella ... and all he needs is one finger.

Good choice Spiny. MAYBE I too have finally learned that my first thought of a smart aleck comment may not be a good idea? Naaaah, probably not. But seriously, that shot to the face that Sid took turned my stomach for sure. Usually the surgery to fix that works very well and I hope he's recovered soon.

I see Torts taught the Peg a lesson last night and has lived to fight another day. So have the Caps. Isn't it fun to fight for the play-offs 20 minutes at a time?

That was a nasty replay...and I as well had some smart remark to make but thought if it was one of our guys I wouldn't think it's too funny either. Hopefully he's back for the PO's. They got a good team even without him..they'll pick it up and do fine.
