Vikes courting British fan base

08:01 AM ET 04.04 | For a few days this past week, Kyle Rudolph, John Sullivan and Harrison Smith served as NFL exports on behalf of the Vikings. [They] expected to encounter a smattering of knowledgeable football fans. Instead, they were met by a burgeoning football market that the Vikings players were ready to embrace as their surrogate home for a week this fall. ... For now, the Vikings are trying to build enough of a fan base overseas to make their trip to Wembley feel like a home game. "Even people who were fans of different teams told us that when we come over, they'll be rooting for the Vikings," he said. "Hopefully, we answered their questions. It seemed like even the Steelers fans that were out were glad that we were open to talking."

Sounds like a good idea for a TV show.

Ragnar > Ponder

England didn't particularly welcome the Vikings they last time they came to visit.

But this time, the Vikings are bringing their own Cassel.

Really. You guys have got to watch this show.

As violent as European soccer fans can be, I can see football becoming very popular across the pond.

I'm not that picky, I'll take whichever one you don't want.

I've thought about watching it, but it's hard to schedule time to sit down and watch a show. I kinda just catch whatever's on when I have free time.

This one's worth jumping into at mid-stream...

Comcast has it on-demand for free. It's worth recording, too, so you can skip the ads and get back to the rape-and-pillage aspect.

Right now, with no football, I'm watching 2 hours of TV a week, "Vikings" and "The Americans."

My other shows, "Hell on Wheels," "Copper" and "Ripper Street," are all between seasons right now. All feature brothels and prostitutes prominently in their story lines.

Or, more accurately, mid-fjord.

Game Of Thrones just kicked back in - not a show you can join in on in mid-stream (especially this season).

I'm with you on Vikings & The Americans... and Justified just finished up their season.

Network TV has nothing anymore except a couple of reality shows for me (Amazing Race & Survivor).

Check out the others. HoW is a western, a few years after the Civil War. Copper is a NYC cop show set at the end of the Civil War. (It is so nice to see how police did their job before the ACLU got in the way.) And Ripper Street is CSI: London set in 1880 or so.

I'm waiting for the return of Breaking Bad. Will be sorry to see this one end.

Hell On Wheels is on my DVR record list... love it.

Tried Copper... it's OK but didn't grab me the way HoW and Amicans did.

Haven't checked out Ripper Street yet - looks promising though. I'll have to check the On Demand listings.

And - if you haven't given Game of Thrones a try, I cannot recommend it enough. A great series and about 90-95% true to the books. But - like I said - if you haven't watch the first two seasons then this season will be completely lost to you.

My buddy has the early seasons on DVD - I really need to grab them and check it out. I haven't heard one negative thing about it.

Try Duck Dynasty, that show is a hoot!

Thanks, but I don't watch enough TV to pay for HBO.
