04:38 PM ET 04.04 | On Wednesday, former New York Times and Sports Illustrated writer Selena Roberts released a damning report on her website Roopstigo.com that alleged improper recruiting techniques, bribery of players and manipulation of grades by former Auburn head coach Gene Chizik and the entire Tigers coaching staff. The report stated that players were offered several thousands of dollars to return to school rather than enter the NFL Draft and that as many as nine players had their grades adjusted so they would be eligible for the national championship game. Now, some of the players mentioned in the report are coming forward and refuting Roberts' claims.

Well, at least one Fannation poster has as much said so on another thread.

Im sure there is some truth in these accusations but from what I have heard this writer has very little proof of any of it. That's probably why she posted it on her blog and not through the NYT or SI which she has written for on the past.

That would probably have been more impactful had it not been from Will and Grace....

You'd think Auburn would be keeping their collective noses clean after the Cam Newton debacle.

Has Auburn been on probation within the last 5 years?

being on probation in the past five years and getting caught during that time on another infraction (in any sport.) is one way to get the "death penalty". however, the ncaa can impose the "death penalty" without prior infractions if it deems the school comitted "egregious"violations, as is possible in this case.

Typical SEC techniques----- wait till they uncover ala-BAMMY and the non-academics going on there...

Clearly, you need to whip up some momentum for the B12-2 to change its name to something with chant worthy initials. This chant envy is unbecoming, and all are aware that you know many alumni and fans of SEC schools who do not indulge in or favor chants of "SEC! SEC! SEC!"

Former Auburn player, "Several thousand dollars?!? Sheeee - it! What she been smokin'? Uh huh. I got $157, some loose change, and a bunch of Chik-fil-A gift cards left over from the Kick-Off Classic, and damn, they' only good for breakfast burritos. Those are nasty!"
Other former Auburn player, "Nah, man. The one's with chicken are good."

I'm glad Alabama is keeping it's nose clean and has a very respectable coach.

All of these things, well, we hear about it in Alabama and now it is confirmed. Selena Rogers is an auburn graduate. She didn't go looking for this story. She was doing a story on the guys that committed the armed robbery and people started speaking up. And, as she said, when you put your name out there, there's going to be a lot of backlash. I think that is why you are seeing the guys quoted saying they didn't say those things.

The best way to counter the chant: when one side chants "SEC" the other side quickly shouts "SUCKS!"

Like this:

SEC! <SUCKS!>
SEC! <SUCKS!>
SEC! <SUCKS!>
