08:23 AM ET 04.05 | Thomas Vanek knew change was coming to Buffalo, and, with Jason Pominville now in Minnesota, he can see more might be on the horizon. [Darcy Regier] said the rebuilding process could take years. Vanek and Ryan Miller have one year left on their contracts, so they're eager to sit down with the GM and hear his plan. "You just regroup and figure out what the plan is moving forward, if you're part of it or not," Miller said. ... "I have to talk to Darcy about it. This is obviously something that hasn't been planned out. We'll just see where everything falls, talk to Darcy about what his plan is and how I'm going to fit into it or what's going on because these aren't conversations we've had time to have."

Time to trade those pieces since they will bring value. They are not going to make a difference during the rebuild

What happened to this team? Two years ago, they looked like they were ready to go deep into the playoffs and now they are falling off a cliff.

Regier is probably unsure as to whether he's part of the teams rebuilding plans.

... a point Miller clearly does not grasp.

Always been my second favorite team. Would love them to have some sort of success from them, but...

Is that from your Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump collection?

Absolutely! Best name ever.

They got Lucic'd.

I have to agree. I'd be interested to see the team stats from before that hit and after.
But I have better ways to spend my time than googling Sabres stats.

and neither should he be

QUOTE(#7):

Weak defence, inconsistent goalscorers, unmotivated coaching, $4.5m/per for Ville Leino, $5.5/per for Tyler Myers, who went from future star to guy who should be getting AHL time in a matter of seasons...Nobody on the Sabres is more than a second-liner/second pairing, and that goes back to before the Pominville deal. They looked good to some people for some reason (probably the fact Miller was backstopping them), but it was never really warranted if you look at their past few rosters.

Ville Leino is probably one of the biggest disappointments as a player I ever watched. Speed, abilty, 29 yrs old and had one decent year with Philly, 19/34

No worries Shipper, I heard he's being replaced by Jimmy Fallon right after the Winter Olympics.

This guy just can't shut up. He has quickly become one of the more annoying players in the league. Since when does a GM (and I am no fan of Regier, btw) owe a talk to a player? Shut the pie hole and just play Miller, your play over the last 2-3 years has been a major contributor to the Sabres lack of postseason play. What a ****.

The Leino trade is certainly one where I need to give Holmgren credit. He got that one right.

Of course he'll want more money.
