Jagr Feels He Can Play Better Than Debut

12:01 PM ET 04.05 | Well, if Jaromir Jagr feels he can play better than a game in which he scored the game's only goal, so be it. That's how Jagr felt about his performance against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night. "I told [linemates Brad Marchand and Tyler Seguin Seguin], I've got to get better. I felt bad for them they had to play with me, but I've got to get better. That's for sure,' said Jagr. This despite a game in which he led the Bruins with five shots on goal. The game winning goal was no Jagr classic, but he was going to the net when a pass deflected off his skate and past Martin Brodeur. The future Hall of Famer also suggested he was tired. "I don't know, maybe the stress of [being traded]," said Jagr, "and just surprised I got traded. Then I have to pack and get ready, and I didn't sleep very well last night. I slept only two hours, so I don't know what I meant. It just hits you. I have to go and sleep, and it's going to get better." One would think the Bruins will live with Jagr's performance as long as they keep winning.

Whatever, it's good to see him back in gold and black.

Everyone should play his version of poor performance.....good debut I thought, even though not his top notch self.

Cant get to it..but i'll take a wild guess and say its something about Power Play Subbans's 20 PP points ??

something like that. sitting at the top of all D's in scoring. All alone. At the top of the mountain. By himself.

As good as he is offensively..he'll never have the shut-down game of 1 Zdeno Chara...and thats the D-Man's 1st responsibility..dominate in your own end.

Bah, this is tiresome. One's better offensively, one defensively. The only way to solve this is to get them together and see who can throw the better punches. ;)

You're right. Chara is a +- beast. His offensive game is starting to really slow down and his overall game has levelled off and is starting the decline, but he's STILL the best in his end and he's the key to his team's success. How sharp will his game decline? i dunno. Whatever, Chara will always have the honour of having been the consensus best in the league for a few seasons.

I have always been in agreement that Subban is not at Chara's level as a shut down D. Nor will he ever. But, he's showing that he's going consistently be one of the best overall D and I (like several other here) feel that at some point in the future he will be the best D in the nhl.

If we are having a discussion with PK being somewhere in the vicinity of a guy of the quality of Chara, then that makes me happy.

It's amazing how good Jagr is playing at 41.
