Darrelle Revis 'not optimistic' Tampa Bay trade will happen

06:42 AM ET 04.06 | The Tampa Bay Buccaneers seemed to be the leading candidate to trade for Darrelle Revis, but that might have changed. A source who spoke with Revis told's Ian Rapoport the cornerback is "not optimistic" a deal will get done. Rapoport said on NFL Network's "NFL Total Access" that Revis isn't looking to leave the New York Jets, but the organization is unlikely to meet his contract demands. The consensus No. 1 cornerback in the league, Revis is looking to become one of the highest paid defensive players in the NFL. Revis is set to opt out of his current deal and become an unrestricted free agent after the 2013 season. The Jets have not been shy about entertaining trade offers.

Wow, you thunk dat up all by yourself!!!!!!

At least they found a different picture of the fool

His contract prohibits the Jets from putting the franchise tag on him next year. In UFA they would receive at least a 3rd round compensatory pick, so, I guess they just sit and wait.

I guess all that talent isn't worth the trouble (especially with a bad wheel.)..

Don't trade him. Bench him for the season. Then, maybe, just maybe, he'll ****.

"****" = shut up

Nobody is going to touch that contract until his leg is proven. Even then I'm not to sure there will be much interest .

Really tired of hearing about this clown.

First day of practice put him in the end zone put a new contract extension in the other end zone tell him if he can reach it in 10 seconds or less you will sign it.

Really tired of hearing about this clown.

It's like every off season has to be centered around Darrelle and his precious contract. Shut up and rehab. The Jets are stuck with you, but nobody else is going to put up with your whiny act until you prove that you are the top shutdown corner in the league.

April 6, 2013  10:57 AM ET

I'd be happy if he became a top shutmouth corner

April 6, 2013  11:46 AM ET

yes- they wait until a decent offer comes up.Revis has to come back and show he's healthy, so his value goes up as training camp starts and as the season starts - *assuming he can walk- otherwise - yikes* there is no desperate rush to get more draft pick his year vs next as we are going nowhere anyway and there is no 'franchise' qb on the board- other than the circus - which the jets are used to- they need to be patient

Next years draft has some serious QB talent. Three who would be the first QBs to go in this years draft.

Why would Tampa give up a 1st and a 3rd? Stupid. Where is the competition for Revis? Teams should lowball the Jets on offers. Jets DO NOT want Revis to get to FA where he could sign with a division rival like the Patriots or the Dolphins. They almost HAVE to trade him.
