07:44 AM ET 04.06 | The Mike Rice scandal will not affect Rutgers' status as a future member of the Big Ten. Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany told the Tribune on Friday that "the conference is not involved in the hiring or termination of coaches. We know the limits of what we do." Delany also said in a statement that league officials "will continue to monitor the situation as appropriate, (but) it will have no impact on Rutgers' transition to, or membership in, the Big Ten Conference." Rutgers and Maryland are slated to join the league in 2014.

This doesn't come close to the obscenity that Penn State perpetrated on the B1G.

Interesting how a couple of Rutgers players came out to defend Rice and say he really isn't that bad a guy. Stockholm Syndrome?

Good to see that Rutgers meets the prerequisites for entrance into this confederacy of dunces.

Too bad TattGate didn't bring down tOSU AD (and Domer alumnus) Gene Smith, but Teflon seems to be a major product coming out of South Bend.

Delany looks like he could use a trim - looking like he's going to shouting for Moe and Curly any minute.

Larry actually had hair. But I digress...

Remember July of 2012 when Delany said he wanted the power to fire B1G coaches for wrong-doing, and the conference's presidents and chancellors then put the kibosh on that half-baked idea?

Puts a nice twist of irony into his "limits" comment. Classic example of retroactive CYA.
