04:09 PM ET 04.06 | The Colorado Rockies acquired pitcher Aaron Harang from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for catcher Ramon Hernandez on Saturday. However, instead of using Harang to bolster a rotation that was baseball's worst in 2012, the Rockies plan to designate Harang for assignment and will attempt to trade him, per Troy Renck of the Denver Post. Regardless of what they end up doing with Harang, the Rockies will save money. They owed Hernandez, who was designated for assignment by the club at the end of spring training, $3.2 million this season in the second year of a $6.4 million deal.

Why would any team offer anything for Harang when they can wait until the Rockies release him and get him for nothing.

I hear the Red Sox may need a pitcher...

No, Boston doesn't need or want this guy. If Lackey needs to go on the DL, they will promote Alan Webster, the kid they got last year from the Dodgers. He had a great Spring, and surprised a lot of people. In fact if they knew he was gonna look this good, they wouldn't have bothered to signed Dempster.

Oh, I agree with you. I hope they don't bring in Harang, but I could see it happening.

the red sox could be thinking otherwise, but at this rate,,any team its seeking the same thing,,, as how to get a regular starter and how much it would cost them!!
