08:21 AM ET 04.07 | Josh Hamilton wasn't the only member of his family treated rudely during Friday's home opener. The former Rangers outfielder said extra security was called for his wife Katie and daughters in the stands after some over-exuberant fans verbally accosted them in the stands at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. "She ended up calling security just because people are being ugly," Hamilton told reporters. "Not necessarily the booing and stuff, but inappropriate with kids around -- and that was before the game even started. But overall, it's not like they left and went anywhere. They stayed right there. Good lesson for the kids about people and general and not putting your faith in man, but in the man upstairs." Rangers officials said they responded to a request for extra security during the game, but that there were no ejections. The Rangers said they could not provide the Hamilton's with a suite on Friday because all were sold out. The Hamilton family did receive a suite for the games Saturday and Sunday.

Is there anything more annoying in this world than ex druggies who find religion? Give me a break, with three kids in his house the guy has had issues in the last three years. "Inappropriate with kids around?"....Just play the game Josh, and shut up about everything else.....You got your money, now go....

I agree. At least Timmy L. is authentic, even when he is taking his lumps.

Knowing you have been one of the Rangers fans favorite players and left there and sign with the Angels, why did you have your family there in the first place.

Yes he is. I give him that respectfully.

He needs to make peace with the locals in Texas. That is where his home is and he is unlikely to move as that is one of the few states that will let an ex coke addict arrested for smashing a vehicles windows outside a night club purchase fire arms without a background check.

She expected primrose and lavender after all of the crap she spewed about Texas last year?

I'm every bit as sick of her as I am of him.

Come on Josh, you got the money, buy some decent seating next time if it is a problem. Or have her stay home....

Im amazed by the lack of class that is accepted by people, even in this thread....

Fans were yelling crude things at the mans wife and kids, and people are justifying it because of the situation that happened in the sporting world? Have some freaking class.... boo the man, and leave his wife and kids alone

No hope for the human race when someones family is ridiculed and then the man is criticized for making light of the inappropriate behavior..... disgusting
